GREEN PLEDGES CAMPAIGN
Inclusive Community Development (ICD) has signed up to seven green pledges as part of a campaign recently launched by Cheshire West Voluntary Action (CWVA).
A Climate Emergency was declared by the Council in May 2019, with a plan for Cheshire West and Chester to become carbon neutral as a borough by 2045. The Green Pledges campaign encourages individuals and organisations to sign up to pledges, change their behaviours and create a greener and cleaner environment for all.
ICD works with and for people with learning disabilities and autism to navigate the education and care systems, making sure there are clear and ambitious progression pathways. It has now signed up to seven of the campaign’s suggested pledges.
Car emissions – reduce personal or business mileage or change to electric vehicles
Consumption – proactively reduce consumption as an individual and/or organisation
Reuse and recycle – increase your reuse and recycling of resources
100 per cent renewable energy – move towards using 100 per cent renewable energy sources
Meat and dairy – reduce weekly meat and dairy consumption as an individual and/or organisation
Food waste – reduce your food waste
Plastic free – a commitment to reduced plastic use
Cindy Cliffe, Director of Inclusive Community Development, said: “It’s really quite a challenge to look at the activities and behaviours of your own organisation because, at the end of the day, it’s about your own individual choices, especially when you’re part of a small operation like ours. “But we all have to start somewhere and we need to make a stand as a community social enterprise to make changes so signing the green pledges for us is about standing up to be counted.” Get involved with the Green Pledges campaign
